By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Four Chinese firms have announced their readiness to build power plants and dams in Iran 's southwestern province of Khuzestan, Ahmad Reza Sedaghat, an official with Khuzestan Water and Power Authority said.

The companies are internationally renowned, he said, adding that officials of the companies have recently paid a visit to the province, Iran 's IRNA news agency reported April 29.

A 14-member team from Power China Company visited the Dez power plant and dam in the province, he noted.

In January, Iran's deputy energy minister Alireza Daemi said the Energy Ministry is to receive more than 3 billion dollars of the Chinese finance for development projects across Iran.

"The Central Bank of Iran and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance have been assigned with negotiating the terms of Chinese financing," Daemi stated, adding that the Energy Ministry plans to use its share of the finance for construction and development of three dams and two power plants. However, the government needs to focus on the use of domestic resources for financing mega energy projects, Daemi acknowledged.
