Iran will expand its oil and gas pipeline network to 18,000 kilometers by March 2022, Abbas Ali Jafari Nasab, the managing director of the Iranian Oil Pipelines and Telecommunications Company, stated.

The oil and gas pipelines network is currently extended about 14,000 kilometers, he said, adding that the network will be expanded to 18,000 kilometers by Iranian fiscal year 1400 (March 2021-March 2022), Iran's Shana news agency reported on May 3.

The lion's share of the expansion will be carried out by the next three years, he noted.

Currently, 4500 kilometers of pipelines carry crude oil and 9500 kilometers of pipelines carry oil products across the country, totally to the amount of 350 million liters, he said.

Iran plans to facilitate the construction project of the 6th, 9th, and 11th cross-country gas pipelines.

The mentioned pipelines are among the country's export pipelines, so the necessary money for completing the projects will be allocated out of the South Pars gas field development plan's special fund.

The 6th, 9th, and 11th cross-country gas pipelines, respectively, need 2, 6, and 4 million dollars to come on stream.

The 6th cross-country gas pipeline is the first priority. The first and second sections of the pipeline are currently complete.

The 9th cross-country gas pipeline is projected to transfer 100 million cubic meters of gas per day. The 1,863-kilometers long pipeline has 17 pressure booster stations.

The 11th cross-country gas pipeline is 1,100 kilometers long and has the capacity to transfer 100 million cubic meters of gas per day.
