Iran offers licensed refining technology to foreign countries

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: The Iranian Oil Industry Research Center has won an international tender for offering licensed refining technology to a foreign country, Mansour Bazmi, an official with the center said.

For the first time, the center will offer the licensed technology for building four refining units in a foreign country, he said, without naming the country, Iran 's Shana news agency reported May 27.

The center is currently prepared to sign a contract, including gasoline production units, naphtha processing, and visbreaker which reduces the viscosity of the residual oil, as well as oil and gas refining units, he added.

Iran is negotiating with India and Brazil to build refineries in the countries, Abbas Kazemi, the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, said on May 9.

If the two sides come to terms, Iran will also supply the refineries with crude oil, he added.

Brazil has put in a request for revamping and renovating a number of its refineries, he said, adding that India has asked Iran to build a refinery with the capacity of 400,000 barrels.
