Direct contribution of travel and tourism to Iran's GDP $8B for 2015

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) in its 2015 report said the contribution of travel and tourism to Iran's GDP has been 237,121 billion rials (over $8 billion) in the one-year course.

The direct contribution of travel and tourism to GDP was 237,121.0 billion rials (2.3 percent of total GDP) in 2014, and is forecast to rise by 6.6 percent in 2015, and to rise by 5.7 percent, from 2015-2025, to 442,156.0 billion rials (2.9 percent of total GDP) in 2025.

The total contribution of travel and tourism to GDP was 651,511.0 billion rials (6.3 percent of GDP) in 2014, and is forecast to rise by 6.1 percent in 2015, and to rise by 5.5 percent to 1,182,450.0 billion rials (7.8 percent of GDP) in 2025.

In 2014 travel and tourism directly supported 413,000 jobs (1.8 percent of total employment). This is expected to rise by 4.4 percent in 2015 and rise by 4.3 percent to 656,000 jobs (2.2 percent of total employment) in 2025.

In 2014, the total contribution of travel and tourism to employment, including jobs indirectly supported by the industry, was 5.3 percent of total employment (1,223,500 jobs). This is expected to rise by 5.1 percent in 2015 to 1,285,500 jobs and rise by 4.1 percent to 1,913,000 jobs in 2025 (6.5 percent of total).

Visitor exports generated 24,903.4 billion rials (1.1 percent of total exports) in 2014. This is forecast to grow by 3.2 percent in 2015, and grow by 3.0 percent, from 2015-2025, to 34,604.1 billion rials in 2025 (0.8 percent of total).

Travel and tourism investment in 2014 was 83,603.5 billion rials, or 3.0 percent of total investment. It should rise by 4.3 percent in 2015, and rise by 5.5 percent over the next ten years to 149,446.0 billion rials in 2025 (3.7 percent of total).

The total contribution of travel and tourism to GDP (including wider effects from investment, the supply chain and induced income impacts) was 651,511.0 billion rials in 2014 (6.3 percent of GDP) and is expected to grow by6.1 percent to 691,283.0 billion rials (6.5 percent of GDP) in 2015.

It is forecast to rise by 5.5 percent to 1,182,450.0 billion rials by 2025 (7.8 percent of GDP).

By 2025, travel and tourism will account for 656,000 jobs directly, an increase of 4.3 percent over the next ten years.

Travel and tourism is expected to have attracted capital investment of 83,603.5 billion rials in 2014. This is expected to rise by 4.3 percent in 2015, and rise by 5.5 percent over the next ten years to 149,446.0 billion rials in 2025.

Travel and Tourism's share of total national investment will rise from 3.1 percent in 2015 to 3.7 percent in 2025.

Leisure travel spending (inbound and domestic) generated 92.9 percent of direct travel and tourism GDP in 2014 (388,433.0 billion rials), compared with 7.1 percent for business travel spending (29,793.6 billion rials).

Business travel spending is expected to grow by 5.0 percent in 2015 to 31,280.4 billion rials, and rise by 6.2 percent to 57,015.6 billion rials in 2025.

Leisure travel spending is expected to grow by 6.7 percent in 2015 to 414,589.0 billion rials, and rise by 5.7 percent to 724,614.0 billion rials in 2025.

Domestic travel spending generated 94.0 percent of direct travel and tourism GDP in 2014 compared with 6.0 percent for visitor exports (ie foreign visitor spending or international tourism receipts).

Domestic travel spending is expected to grow by 6.8 percent in 2015 to 420,180.0 billion rials, and rise by 5.9 percent to 747,026.0 billion rials in 2025.

Visitor exports are expected to grow by 3.2 percent in 2015 to 25,689.3 billion rials, and rise by 3.0 percent to 34,604.1 billion rials in 2025.
