Iran’s propane, butane exports up in weight, down in value

A four-month statistics about Iran's butane and propane export shows that compared to last year, Iran has exported more of these two products while it has earned less out of them this year, the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic reported Aug. 1.

In the first four months of the current Iranian fiscal year (which started March 21), Iran exported 1,048 metric tons of liquefied propane which was worth $540 million, said the report.

The country had exported 706,000 metric tons of the product at $713 million during the same period of the previous year.

Accordingly, the weight of the exported liquefied propane grew by 48.5 percent this year, while the value of it dropped by 24.2 percent.

The export of liquefied butane for the same period amounted to 702,000 metric tons, worth $376 million.

The numbers were 554 and 548 respectively during the same period of the previous year.

Therefore, in the current year the country's butane export grew in weight by 26.7 percent while the value of it dropped by 31.3 percent.
