Iran experiences decline in imports

Iran imported $27.84 billion worth of goods during the first seven months of 2015, which indicates a 15.43 percent decline, compared to the same period of the preceding year.

Iran imported some 22.9 million metric tons of goods during that period which is 7 percent less compared to the first seven months of 2014, according to the Iranian Customs Administration latest monthly report released September 1.

Corn fodder worth $919 million topped the list of Iran's imported goods with 3.3 percent share from the country's total imports' value. Iran 's corn fodder imports indicate a rise by 72.1 percent year on year.

The Islamic Republic imported 3.8 million metric tons of corn fodder in the first seven months of 2015, indicating an increase by 134.5 percent in terms of volume year on year.

After corn fodder, motor vehicles worth $752 million and wheat worth $738 million were other main imported goods of the Islamic Republic.

Motor vehicles imports indicate a rise by 22.6 percent in terms of value year on year.

Tehran's wheat import decreased by 26.5 percent and 14.1 percent in terms of value and volume respectively compared with the first seven months of 2014.

The three mentioned goods shared 8.7 percent of Iran 's total imports in terms of value.
The average price for each one metric ton of Iran 's imported goods in the mentioned period was $1216, which is nine percent less than the previous year.

Tehran's overall non-oil trade turn over stood at $48.5 billion during the first seven months of 2015. Imports shared 57.4 percent of the mentioned figure.
