German companies believe in cooperation with Iran and are willing to participate in Iran's economic, industrial, and energy projects.

Nils Schmid, the deputy prime minister as well as the minister of financial and economic affairs of the German state of Baden-Wurttemberg said German companies are planning to resume cooperation with Iran after lifting of sanctions against the Islamic Republic, Iran's Shana news agency reported on September 6.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh in Tehran.

The German minister, heading a 68-member delegation, said German firms which are active in machinery and engineering services can help upgrade Iranian industries.

Germany's Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel said in a meeting with Zanganeh in Tehran on July 20 that a new chapter has opened in economic ties between Iran and Germany.

"German companies desire sustainable and everlasting economic cooperation with Iran," Gabriel added.
