Spain is negotiating with Iran to buy oil products and LNG from the country.

Spanish Minister of Industry, Energy, and Tourism José Manuel Soria López met with Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh in Tehran, discussing ways to boost cooperation in oil, energy, and investment sectors, Iran's IRIB reported on September 7.

During the meeting, the Spanish minister called for facilitating economic activities, especially making joint investments in Iran.

Zanganeh, for his part, highlighted Iran's readiness to cooperate with foreign companies, particularly with those of Spain.

Spain is ready to use its LNG terminals for importing Iranian gas to the European markets, Zanganeh said.

During the meeting, the Iranian side told about the country's plans to expand its oil, gas, and petrochemical industries, as well as implement energy-saving projects.

Meanwhile, according to the announced schedule, the Spanish delegation is expected to discuss bilateral ties with four Iranian ministers in Tehran and Isfahan during their three-day formal visit to the country. Also, a seminar has been planned to be held to study joint cooperation between the two countries.

Spain was the 12th leading importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year, which started on March 21, according to the Iranian Customs Administration.
