Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 7

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran plans to export 200,000 barrels of oil to Spain per day.

Director of international affairs at National Iranian Oil Company Mohsen Qamsari said the volume of oil exports to Spain is projected to reach the pre-sanction level of 200,000 barrels per day, Iran 's IRIB reported September 7.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of a meeting between Iran 's Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh and Spain 's Minister of Industry, Energy, and Tourism José Manuel Soria López in Tehran.

"We have not reached any specific figure yet for exporting crude oil to that country," Qamsari added.

Once the goal of increasing oil production by 500,000 barrels per day is realized, the increased amount will be exported both to European and Asian countries, he said.

Iran can boost its oil production by 500,000 barrels per day within a week after lifting of the sanctions, Zanganeh said in August.

"Our production was 3.9 million barrels per day before the sanctions. Imposing the sanctions cut the production by more than one million barrels per day," he added.

Before the western sanctions on Iran, the country was exporting 2.5 million bpd of oil, but the figure has fallen to 1.2 mbpd in 2014 and 1.4 mbpd in recent months.
