By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Mexico welcomes cooperation with Iran in energy efficiency projects, Mexican Labor and Social Welfare Minister Alfonso Navarrete Prida said.
On the sidelines of a meeting with Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, the Mexican official said they discussed expansion of ties in the oil sector after lifting of sanctions against Iran, Iran 's IRNA news agency reported Sept. 8.
Mexico has launched different programs in oil and energy sectors, and welcomes cooperation with Tehran in this field, he added.
Before the sanctions were imposed on Iran, the two countries had cooperated in oil projects, he noted.
In another meeting with Iranian Labor and Social Welfare Minister Ali Rabiei on Sept. 7, the Mexican minister said his country is willing to expand cooperation with Iran in political, economic, and social areas.
Alfonso Navarrete Prida was Mexico's first minister to visit Iran over the past decade.
In September 2014, the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to pave the way for the establishment of Iran-Mexico Joint Commercial Council in the near future.
