Austria to help boost central Iran oil field output

Two universities from Iran and Australia are going to work together to boost oil output from a central-Iranian field.

The Austrian Montana University and Iran 's University of Oil Industry are going to focus on improving oil output from the Gachsaran oil field in the Iranian Markazi Province, director of Montana School of Oil said, SHANA news agency reported Sept. 9.

He said the two universities have on the agenda to jointly do research, development and technological studies on the field.

In the next stage, professors from one university can teach at the other university and exchange knowledge, he said, adding that doctorate students from each of the countries could also pick study and research programs in the other country for a few months.

There are many opportunities in Iran and the country needs to improve the recovery and production factors of its oil fields and the research projects will soon come with great gains for Iran, he said.

The cooperation follows a visit to Tehran by an Austrian delegation led by President Heinz Fischer Sept. 7.
