By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran suggested cooperation with the Czech Republic in the field of electronics.

Ali Vahdat, the managing director of the fund for supporting Iranian electronics industry, suggested that a list of Iranian and Czech companies that are active in electronics and high-tech industries to be prepared, Iran 's Mehr news agency reported Sept. 9.

He made the remarks in a meeting with the deputy director of Czech Republic's Science and Technology Park.

Despite sanctions, Iran has made notable progress in manufacturing high-tech products, such as medical equipment, car components, LED lamps, receivers and transmitters, radars, and telecommunication systems, he noted.

"In this line, we welcome any joint venture with foreign companies which can help the country's industrial advancement," he said.

Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek said on Sept. 7 that his country is eager to boost trade with Iran.

The Czech Republic is working on drafting a memorandum of understanding with Iran to facilitate the bilateral trade, he added.

The bilateral trade amounted to $24 million last year. The two countries' mutual trade traditionally focused on industry, infrastructure, oil, energy, crystal products, and textile.

In May, Iran and the Czech Republic signed a double taxation avoidance agreement in a bid to give a boost to the bilateral trade.
