By Fatih Karimov - Trend:

Iran will boost the volume of gas export to Iraq to 35 million cubic meters per day.

Azizollah Ramezani, the director for international affairs department of the National Iranian Gas Export Company, said that as per an annexation to the gas export deal, the volume of gas export to Iraq would be increased to 35 mcm per day from 25 mcm, Iran 's Shana news agency reported on Sept. 9.

Based on the deal, Iran will increase gas export to Iraq during the five warm months of the year, he added.

The two sides have held talks for offering technical, financial, and executive training to Iraqi personnel by the Iranian side, he noted.

Ramezani said August 15 that the National Iranian Gas Export Company has prepared the draft of a much-awaited agreement with Iraq to export natural gas to the country.

Ramezani added that the text of the agreement would be forwarded to the related authorities for final approval.

The two countries signed a basic agreement for the export of natural gas from Iran 's South Pars gas field to Iraq back in 2013.

Based on the agreement, a daily of 25 mcm of gas will be delivered to Sadr, Baghdad and al-Mansouryah power plants through the 270-kilometer pipeline.

The project has been long in the offing but had been delayed over security concerns in Iraq.
