The Pakistani Minister of Privatization Muhammad Zubair has said Islamabad-Tehran relations are not going to be limited to the Peace Pipeline.

All the controversy over the pipeline has to finish as soon as possible and the line must be completed, he said, Fars news agency reported September 13.

One of the most important delayed project between two neighbor nations was the construction of the Peace Pipeline, aimed at exporting Iranian gas to Pakistan, according to Iranian media outlets.

Iran has almost completed the section in its territory, but Pakistan hasn't started the construction so far. According to the contract, Pakistan should have started importing Iranian gas last year. However, earlier, Islamabad announced that the construction work for implementing the Peace Pipeline would start in September.

"In the future we intend to import fuel from Iran. The import of fuel will prevent fuel smuggling, which will benefit both countries," Zubair stated.

Pakistan is importing electricity from Iran, where the amount of import can be increased, he further said.

Pakistan currently imports about 100 megawatts of electricity from Iran.

Right now Pakistan exports sport goods, rice, marble, etc. to Iran, which is very little and has to be boosted, Zubair urged.

Iranian carpets and plastic goods have a very good market in Iran, where a trade boost is also needed, he said.

He further pointed out that his country has a good capacity in the fabrics and agriculture sectors, where Iran can be a good partner.
