By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Bulgaria intends to revive its economic ties with Iran after seven years of hiatus.

Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Valentin Poriazov said the country's foreign minister will visit Iran soon, aiming to set up the joint economic committee meeting after seven years, Iran 's Mehr news agency reported Sept. 14.

Poriazov made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi.

During the meeting, Takht-Ravanchi said Iran is ready to boost all-out ties with Bulgaria. He added that facilitating cooperation between chambers of commerce and the private sector would be of high importance.

The Bulgarian official, for his part, said that the bilateral trade has doubled in the current year compared to the year before.

Bulgaria ranked 49th among importers of Iranian non-oil goods in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2015, according to the Iran Customs Administration. 



Iran exported $30.170 million of non-oil goods to Bulgaria and imported $96.328 million of non-oil goods from the country.
