Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 21

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: A Danish firm will ink a contract with Iran's health ministry to establish a medicine production plant in Iran.

Iran's Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi said that the contract will be signed on Sept. 22, Iran 's IRIB reported.

The contract's subject is the production of diabetes drugs, Hashemi said.

The contract's value will be high, he said, adding that building the medicine production plant in Iran will be second to none in the region.

Within less than the next two months, a conference will be held to introduce investment opportunities in Iran's health sector, the minister noted.

The Iranian government has dedicated significant resources to the sector in recent years as part of its policy to make medicine accessible and affordable.

Iran's pharmaceutical market experienced sharp growth last year, rising to $1.2 billion. There are as many as 65 pharmaceutical companies in the country, but their operations are basically limited to local formulation.
