Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in an announcement offered condolences to all Islamic countries which lost people during a stampede incident in Mecca this week.
He also called on the Saudi government to realize their dire responsibility in relation to the catastrophe and prepare the ground for cooperation with other Islamic countries in holding the Hajj pilgrimage.
Part of the message also said:
Unfortunately, this is the second painful incident during this year's Hajj, which hurt the feelings of the Islamic Ummah and the safety and security of pilgrims to the Sacred House of God had been threatened. I hope that the Saudi government enforcement agencies understand their responsibility in organizing Hajj to seek areas for consultation, cooperation and benefit from the experiences of other countries in this divine duty and prevent similar incidents in the future.
