Energy cooperation opportunities surround Russian energy minister’s visit of Tehran

There are great bilateral cooperation opportunities for Iran and Russia as Russian Energy Ministery Alexander Novak is slated to travel to Tehran , a member of the Iranian Parliament's Energy Commission said.

Novak is to head a delegation of 40 to Iran and sit for talks with Iranian ministers of economy, transport, and energy as well as the Central Bank of Iran 's president.
According to Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei, the two sides will pay special attention to Iran 's energy resources in their talks.
There are great opportunities for Iran and Russia as two energy giants to boost their incomes and effectiveness, MP Hashem Bani-Hashemi told Trend October 20.
Novak's visit follows previous arrangements for expanding mutual ties by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin made during their meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in July.

Novak is expected to discuss recent developments in the global crude market in a meeting with Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh.

Representatives from major Russian energy companies such as RusHydro, Zarubezhneft, Gazprom, Bashneft, Rosgeo, and Rosseti will accompany Novak.

Bani-Hashemi said while Russia can be of help to Iran in the OPEC regarding Iran's plan to boost its oil output after they country is freed from international sanctions, Iran can offer its expert knowledge in the oil industry, in which Iran has a century-old experience.

Lukoil, Russia 's second largest oil producer, is in advanced talks with the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) to return to Iran . The company seeks to revive its stake in the Anaran project from which it pulled out in 2011.

Russia also plans to build a number of nuclear power plant for Iran . Russia has built Iran 's first ever nuclear power plant, the Bushehr.
