Iran to experience new oil and gas development era

Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 21

Iran's Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh made the remarks in a meeting with Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak in Tehran, Shana news agency reported Oct. 21.

"Considering that unjust sanctions will be removed soon on Iran, we will enter a new oil and gas development era," Zanganeh said.

Both Iran and Russia hold huge reserves of oil and gas and export large volumes to the market. So, they can boost cooperation in the field of energy, he said.

Novak, heading a 40-member energy delegation will pay a two-day visit to Iran explore ways to boost bilateral trade.

The Russian delegates are scheduled to have meetings with some officials from Iran's ministries of finance and economic affairs; transport and urban development; besides the Central Bank of Iran.

Senior directors of some Russian giant energy and industrial companies such as Gazprom, JSC Zarubezhneft, Bashneft, Gazprom Neft, Rusgeology and RusHydro are among the members of delegation.

Novak, for his part, said that economic and trade cooperation between Iran and Russia will be increased. He also referred to his today morning's meeting with Iranian Telecommunication Minister Mahmoud Vaezi, in which the two sides discussed ways to expand bilateral ties.
