Tehran, Iran, November 20

By Mehdi Sepahvand -- Trend:

Deputy CEO of Iran's Central Insurance Co. Rahim Mosaddeq said foreigners are trying to buy shares from Iranian insurance companies.

The issue is under consideration, he added, Mehr news agency reported November 20.

He also said there are three foreign companies which have requested to establish insurance offices in Iran's free zones.

At present, the requests of a few companies are undergoing bureaucratic procedures for acquiring certificates, he added.

Mosaddeq further noted that a company called Middle East Insurance which is active in life insurance will receive its permit in near future.

Meanwhile, he said, as the JCPOA implementation day is dragging closer, a number of companies have held talks with Iran to establish offices in the country.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) which was reached in July between Iran and the group 5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) is expected to lead to the removal of economic sanctions on Iran in the coming months.

Under sanctions, Iranian insurance companies were cut from relations with other countries. Also, no foreign insurance company could have any deal with any Iranian economic enterprise.
