Iran's major state-run iron ore producing companies have produced about 14.783 million tons of iron ore concentrate during the first seven months of current Iranian fiscal year (March 21-Oct. 22).
The figure indicates a 0.5-percent decrease compared to the same period of the previous year which was 14.857 million tons, the Islamic Republic's Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) reported Nov. 30.
Chadormalou ranked first among the companies producing 5.15 million tons of iron ore concentrate followed by Gol Gohar with 5.5 million tons of production.
Markazi (2.1 million tons), Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company (1.39 million tons) and Sangan (630,333 million tons) were other state-run iron ore concentrate producers.
The companies produced 2.244 million tons of iron ore concentrate during the seventh Iranian calendar month (Sept. 22-Oct. 22).
The five companies delivered some 8.489 million tons of iron ore concentrate to the steel producing companies in the 7-month period.
The aforementioned companies (excluding Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company) plus Jalalabad, Mishdavan, Sirjan and the Iranian Central Plateau Iron Ore Mines Complex, produced 5.8 million tons of iron ore granule in total, during the 7-month period, three percent less year on year.
However the eight major domestic mining companies produced 2.2 million tons of iron ore granules in the seventh calendar month, indicating a 140 percent increase in comparison with the same period preceding year.
The report does not include the volume of produced iron ore by private sector companies, which in total produce 14 million metric tons of iron ore annually.
Iran's iron ore reserve stands at 5.1 billion tons, of which 2.8 billion tons are proven.
