President Hassan Rouhani is expected to inaugurate a pipeline delivering Iran's gas to Iraqi capital city of Baghdad in late March.

Amanollah Zare', the managing director of Nirou Gostar Industrial Group, that is in charge of constructing the pipeline, said that the construction of the pipeline for delivering Iran's gas to Iraq has been completed and President Rouhani is expected to inaugurate the project on March 27, Fars news agency reported.

According to the official, the construction of the 98-km long pipeline cost 70 million euros.

The pipeline stretching from Iran's Charmaleh in Ilam province to Naft-Shahr on the Iran-Iraq border will initially export 4 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas to Iraq per day and the figure will be increased to 25 mcm in the next phases.

The pipeline is expected to supply gas to al-Mansourieh, al-Sadr and al-Quds refineries in Iraq.

Iran and Iraq finalized a plan for developing the pipeline to supply gas to Iraq in September 2015. The project has been delayed over security concerns in Iraq.
