Iran increases mazut deliveries to power plants

Iran has significantly increased mazut (fuel oil) consumption in power plants.

The country decreased gas deliveries to power plants by 11.9 percent in first 34 days of the current fiscal year (started on March 21).

During the mentioned period, about 4.228 billion cubic meters of gas was supplied to power plants, the weekly report of Iran's Energy Ministry said.

On the other hand, delivering diesel to power plants decreased by 11.3 percent to 71 million liters, but mazut supplements increased by 16.7 percent to 252 million liters year-to-year, said the report, published on the ministry's official website on May 2.

During this period, 20.847 billion kilowatts-hour (kWh) of electricity was generated, of which 202 million kWh was exported.

Iran's electricity exports decreased 67 percent year-to-year.

The country imported 494 million kWh of electricity during 34 days of current fiscal year, which indicate a 26 percent increase.

Iran added 182 MW to its power generation capacity. The figure reached 74,277 MW as of April 22.
