By Khalid Kazimov - Trend:

Iran considers adopting policies aimed at encouraging airlines to launch direct flights between the Islamic Republic and the Central Asian countries, an Iranian minister said.

Iran's Transport Minister Abbas Akhoundi has called for preparing plans for launching directs flights from Iran to Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, Mehr news agency reported.

Given the fact that flights to these countries will not be economically justified in the beginning, the ministry has decided to back those airlines that launch the flights, he added.

He also predicted that the flights will gradually yield financial gains.

Iran appears interested in the expansion of ties with Central Asia as Tehran sees the region an ideal market with about 70 million consumers.
