Oil Cooperation between Iran and the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) in Northern Iraq still remains unclear as the two sides voice different statements.

Meanwhile the KRG representative in Tehran, Nazim Dabbagh says the region has signed a Memorandum of understanding to export Iran 20-30 thousands barrels of oil per day, the Iranian oil officials reject that, Mehr news agency reported.

Based on a new deal signed last April, besides exporting the aforementioned amount of crude oil from northern Iraq to Iran, a project for laying a pipeline capable of transferring 250,000 barrels of oil per day will be launched, according to the report.

At the same time, Ali Panahi, the Iranian deputy consul in Sulaymaniyah, northern Iraq, said that Tehran has no problem to boost oil and gas cooperation with the KRG, but seeks endorsement from the Iraqi government.

Last week, Mohsen Ghamsari, director of international affairs at the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) rejected some remarks by the KRG officials, who suggested that the regional government and Tehran had agreed to export KRG's crude oil through the Islamic Republic.

"We have not reached any agreement with Iraq's KRG on exporting the region's crude oil," Ghamsari said, adding the KRG has a pipeline for delivering its crude to Europe.

For several years, Iraqi KRG and Iran have been in talks to construct a pipeline that would transport the northern Iraq oil to the Iran for swapping the region's crude in the Persian Gulf.

However, the negotiations have lagged so far as the regional administration in northern Iraq instead focused on developing an oil export route through Turkey.
