Iran, Bulgaria eye cooperation in nuclear, transit, gas fields

Tehran and Sofia appear keen to expand cooperation in the fields of nuclear energy, transit and gas.

The sides discussed cooperation in nuclear energy and building a nuclear reactor during a meeting between Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri in Tehran July 11, IRNA news agency reported.

Borissov told reporters at a joint press conference with Jahangiri that the two countries are eager to cooperate in transit sector as well.

According to him, experts from Georgia, Iran, Armenia and Bulgaria will get together in Sofia in the coming weeks to study the possibility of creating a new transit corridor.

In addition to cargos, gas also will be delivered through the new corridor, he added.

Borissov further called for creating a gas hub in Bulgaria.

Heading a politico-economic delegation, Boyko Borissov arrived in Tehran July 11 on a two-day official visit to discuss expansion of bilateral ties.
