Iraq has stopped importing cars manufactured in Iran, an Iranian member of parliament said.

Abdollah Rezaeian, a member of parliament's industry commission, has said that Iraq who once was the largest importer of Iranian cars has adopted strict regulations on quality, Mehr news agency reported.

Therefore, Iraq currently does not import any cars from Iran due to the new regulations, the MP added.

This is while the volume of Iraq’s car imports from Iran considerably fell over the last year.

Chinese and South Korean car-makers appear to gain the largest shares from the Iraqi car market.
