Iran to commence petchem plant in Kurdistan province

Iran is preparing to commence a petrochemical plant in Kurdistan province, located in western Iran in autumn, Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marziyeh Shahdaei said August 24.

According to Shana, the project worth 253 million euro, is aimed at producing 300,000 tons of light density polyethylene per year. 

Iran has increased the petrochemical production capacity by 5.5 million tons per year (mt/y) in August 2013, when President Hassan Rouhani took office, to 65.4 mt/y in August 2016.

Iran needs $32 billion investment to complete 50 petrochemical projects to add 41 million tons per year to its petrochemical products output.
