Iran's SUNIR to build wind power plants in Pakistan

Iran Power & Water Equipment and Services Export Company, SUNIR, has received Pakistani government's permission to build wind power plants in this country, the official website of the company said Aug 30.

The report didn't reveal the worth of project, but said that the amount of wind power generation would be 50 megawatts.

SUNIR and Pakistani private Plant Energy Company would establish a joint venture under "Iran Pak Company" name, to develop the project in Sindh Province, the report added.

Launching in 1994, SUNIR has carried out projects worth $2 billion, working with over 200 contractors.

The company has come 9th in ranking among the world’s companies active in building electricity distribution infrastructure.

The report says that SUNIR has projects in Iraq, Afghanistan, Armenia, Syria, Oman, Pakistan, Ethiopia and Sri Lanka with worth $860 million.

The company announced Aug 26 that it held negotiations over projects worth some $20 billion in new markets in North America, as well as Asian, African, and even European countries.
