Iran, Slovenia to co-op in fiber optic sector

Slovenian telecommunications and IT company Iskratel has expressed readiness to cooperate with Iran in the fiber optic sector.

Iskratel is ready to provide Iran’s Telecommunication Company (TCI) with FTTH equipments, Zeljko Puljic, the Slovenian company’s CEO, said, Iran’s Communication and Information Technology News Agency reported.

Puljic made the remarks during a meeting with Rasoul Saraian, managing director of the TCI, on the sidelines of the 17th International Exhibition of Telecommunications (Telecom 2016), which opened in Tehran on Sept. 25.

Saraian for his turn said the TCI’s activities are focused on the FTTH and the company welcomes cooperation with the global leading firms in this area.

FTTH (fiber-to-the-home), also called FTTP (fiber-to-the-premises), is the installation and use of optical fiber from a central point directly to individual buildings, such as residences, apartment buildings and businesses to provide high-speed internet access.

More than 300 companies – domestic and foreign – are showcasing their latest achievements at Telecom 2016. Companies from Spain, Slovakia, the UK, the UAE, South Africa, Germany, China, Japan, Sweden, France, Finland, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, Canada, South Korea, Kuwait, Poland, India, Vietnam and Greece are participating in the four-day event.
