Iran’s South Pars Platform 14 B and 14 A will become operational by February and March 2017 respectively, Morteza Zarrin Gol, operator of Phase 14 development project, said.

He said that Iran's Oil Ministry has prioritized the launching of the phase in order to speed up the development of joint oil and gas fields, SHANA news agency reported Oct. 15.

The construction of platforms is completed by 76 percent, he added.

Phase 14 is set to produce 56.5 mcm/d of sour gas, 75,000 bpd of gas condensates, one million tons a year of liquefied gas, one million tons a year of ethane and 400 tons a day of sulfur.

The development of Phase 14 has been undertaken by a consortium which includes Iran's Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO), National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC), Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex Co (ISOICO) and IOEC.

South Pars, located in southern region, is divided into 24 development phases, and contains 40 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.

It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are in Qatar's territorial waters.

The Islamic Republic is producing over 430 mcm/d of gas from South Pars, while the production level is projected to surpass 700 mcm/d by late 2018.
