Iran’s annual steel export to hit 6 mln tons

Iran’s steel export will reach six million tons during the current fiscal year (started March20, 2016), Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, minister of Industries, Mines and Trade, said.

He said that the country’s steel export stood at three million tons during the first half of the current fiscal year (March 20-Sept. 21), the Islamic Republic’s Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) reported.

Nematzadeh further said that following operation of Kish South Kaveh Steel Company (SKS), Iran's annual steel output has reached 31 million tons a year. He underlined that in three years period under the incumbent government since Aug. 2013, 39 steel projects were put into operation, adding that the country’s annual steel production is planned to reach 50 million tons in 2025. Over 11.451 million tons of crude steel were produced in Iran during the first eight months of 2016, 5.1 percent more year-on-year.

The Islamic Republic’s steel output throughout 2015 is estimated to have hit 16.11 million tons. This in its own turn shows a decline of 1.4 percent year-on-year. Iran also produced 16.331 million tons of crude steel in 2014. The country’s crude steel production reached 15.421 million tons in 2013, which was 6.6 percent more than its preceding year.
