Iran, Singapore sign MoU on shipbuilding

The National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) and Singaporean Tru Marine Company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in shipbuilding industry.

The deal was signed between Azarpad Engineering & Procurement Company on behalf of the NITC and Tru-Marine on the sidelines of the 18th Marine Industries Exhibition in Iran’s Kish Island, Akbar Jebel-Ameli, director of the NITC Technical and Navigation Operations, said, SHANA news agency reported Oct. 22.

The deal envisages cooperation in technology transfer and repair of turbochargers for main engines and diesel ship generators, Jebel-Ameli said.

He added that the deal will help transfer of knowledge and expertise in the field of turbocharger repair as the country lacks such a know-how.

The official further said that at the first step the Singaporean company will hold a technical and educational workshop in Iran’s southern port of Bandar Abbas under the deal.

The 18th International Marine Industries Exhibition, which kicked off on Oct. 18 is organized by the Iranian Association of Naval Architecture and Maritime Engineering in collaboration with other national marine organizations, industries and businesses.

International and national researchers, academia, engineers and experts from Iran and more than 26 countries including Germany, China, Turkey, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Japan, etc. as well as 370 Iranian and foreign companies participated in the exhibition.
