Italy, Germany to invest in Iran’s rail transport

Italy and Germany have announced preparedness to invest in developmental projects in Iran’s rail transport sector, said Islamic Republic Railways CEO Mohsen Pour Seyyed Aghaee.

Ongoing talks with these two countries are very serious and more focused on attracting finance with refund guarantee, he stated, SHANA news agency reported October 22.

“Foreign investment in this sector is naturally prioritized regarding the importance that is attached to increase of activity in the sector,” he said, adding that so far two instances of foreign investment in Iran’s rail development have borne fruit.

“The first instance was a direct foreign investment by a Swiss company that went into the dry port of Aprin. We are also encouraging investment by Central Asian countries.
