Iran’s gas-to-power reaches 41.6 bcm in 7 months

Iran increased gas deliveries to power plants by 8.1 percent to 41.578 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 210 days of the current fiscal year (started on March 21).

According to the latest weekly report of Energy Ministry, the country also consumed 2.515 billion liters of gas oil and fuel oil in power sector, which indicates a 57-percent decrease year-on-year.

During the mentioned period, Iran’s electricity generation stood at 182.865 billion kilowatt hours (kWh), about 1 percent more than the same period of the last year.

Iran’s electricity export decreased by 26 percent to 4.466 billion kWh, while its imports increased by 10 percent to 2.629 billion kWh during 210 days.

Iran added 1,793 MW to its power generation capacity during the current fiscal year and the figure stood at 75,896 MW.

The country plans to add 1,216 MW to power generation capacity by March 20, 2017.
