Iran’s pistachio export increases by 20%

Iran exported 40,000 tons of pistachio, worth $381.65 million during the first six months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20-Sept. 21, 2016).

The figure shows a 20 percent increase in terms of value and 22 percent rise in terms of volume respectively compared to the same period of last year, Iran's Agriculture ministry reported Oct. 25.

Iran exported 130,000 tons of pistachio, worth $1.2 billion to 70 countries during the last fiscal year (ended March 20), meanwhile the country’s total output stood at 261,000 tons, according to the report.

Iran's total non-oil exports (including the gas condensate) stood at $21.706 billion in the first six months of the current fiscal year, which indicates a 6-percent increase.

Agricultural products shared $1.528 billion worth of the exports (7 percent fall year-on-year).
