South Pars giant gas field shares 60 percent of Iran’s total gas output, Head of South Pars Gas Complex Masoud Hassani said.

He added that the share of this field in the country’s total output would reach 82 percent in coming years, National Iranian Gas Company’s official website reported Oct. 26.

Hassani didn’t mention any figure, but Iran produced 256 billion cubic meters of raw gas last year, of which a half was produced in South Pars.

Currently, the output capacity of the field stands at about 450 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d), expected to reach 520-530 mcm/d by March 2017.

Iran plans to commence all of phases of South Pars (except the Phase 11) by March 2019 to increase the output level to above 720 mcm/d. The output would reach 780 mcm/d in 2021.

South Pars is jointly operated by Iran and Qatar. Iranian side, divided to 24 phases, contains about 18 trillion cubic meters of gas.
