The Export Guarantee Fund of Iran (EGFI) has signed cooperation documents with Hungarian and Sri Lankan export guarantee agencies.

Kamal Seyyed Ali, head of Iran’s Export Guarantee Fund, signed separate memorandums of understanding with the Hungarian Export Credit Insurance Plc. (MEHIB) and Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation (Slecic) in Lisbon, Portugal, IRNA news agency reported Oct. 27.

Under the deals, the parties will cooperate in exchange of economic, banking, and insurance information.

The memorandums also envisage cooperation in the fields of reinsurance and joint insurance as well as training.

Seyyed Ali said that following the implementation of nuclear deal last January, grounds are prepared for cooperation with export guarantee institutes of other countries.

He added that his organization will use the opportunity to facilitate access to foreign assets.

The EGFI signed similar documents with Germany’s Hermes, which offers export credit guarantee (ECG), and Swiss Export Risk Insurance (SERV) on Oct. 25.

In the post-sanctions period, EGFI’s exports and investment credits coverage enjoyed a 42-percent growth. It stood at $265 million during the first four months of the current Iranian fiscal year (started March 20).
