The issue of cooperation between Russian search engine Yandex and Iran will be concluded in December, Russia's ambassador to Tehran said.

A delegation headed by one of deputy ministers of Communications and Mass Media of Russia will visit Iran on December 5, said, Tasnim news agency reported Nov. 10.

During the visit, the two parties will discuss cooperation in telecommunication sector, he said, adding that Yandex cooperation with Iran will also be on the agenda of talks.

Earlier Iranian media quoted Iran’s ICT Minister Mahmoud Vaezi as saying that Yandex is to open an office in Tehran, but then Yandex denied it.

However, Iranian Communications and Information Technology ministry brought clarity to confusion over the issue, saying the initial suggestion to open an office of Yandex in Iran came from Nikolai Nikiforov, Russian Minister of Communications.

Earlier an official with Yandex told Trend that the company is open to new cooperation opportunities.

Yandex is a Russian Internet company that operates the largest search engine in Russia with about 60 percent market share in that country. It also develops a number of Internet-based services and products.

The company ranked as the 4th largest search engine worldwide, based on information from Comscore.com, with more than 150 million searches per day as of April 2012, and more than 50.5 million visitors (all company's services) daily as of February 2013.
