Iran’s power loss in network decreased from 15 percent in 2013 to 11 percent now, Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri said, IRNA reported Nov. 16.

According to him, declining power waste is in line with the country’s general agenda to establish a resistive economy model, aimed to make the country self-efficient and independent of foreigners to minimize the effect of probable return of Western sanctions cancelled in January 2016.

Jahangiri said Iran’s power sector should focus on efficiency and high technology.

According to the latest statistics of Iran’s Energy Ministry, the total actual electricity output in the first half of current fiscal year (started March 21) stood at about 160 billion kilowatt hours (kWh), while the electricity sale inside the country and exports reach 124 billion kWh and 4 billion kWh, respectively. It also imported 2.33 billion kWh in the first half of current fiscal year.
