Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani said that the administration has finalized the budget bill for the next fiscal year (to start on March 21, 2017) and will submit it to parliament on Dec. 4.

Rouhani made the remarks Dec. 1 in Mashahd, Razavi Khorassan province on the sidelines of inauguration of the biggest water treatment center of Iran in the city, the state-run IRINN TV reported.

He said that water, water treatment, environment and railways sector are the four main priorities for the next fiscal year based on the budget bill.

The administration will allocate 100 trillion rials (each USD makes 32,090 rials based on official exchange rate) for the aforementioned sectors in the next fiscal year, Rouhani said.

He further said that his government showed an “unprecedented” performance in running the country despite harsh oil price decline in the past two years.

During the period, Iran not only declined to use its reserves to manage the country, but also deposited 20 percent of its oil and gas revenues into the National Development Fund, Rouhani said.

Iran’s economy minister, Ali Tayebnia said last month that during the first half of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20-Sept. 20), oil revenues made only 27 percent of Iran’s budget.

The minister said the government’s policy for the next fiscal year is even to further wean the budget from oil.
