Iran’s share in Japan oil market up in October Y/Y

Iran exported 202,000 barrels of crude oil per day to Japan in October, indicating an increase by 49,000 barrels per day year-on-year, the oil ministry’s SHANA news agency reported.

The figure is equal to 6.6 percent of the Asian country’s total crude oil import.

Iran stood at fifth place among the crude suppliers to Japan in October after Saudi Arabia (1.262 million barrels per day), the UAE (688,000 barrels per day), Qatar and Kuwait.

Iran’s crude oil export to the Asian country stood at 334,000 barrels per day in September 2016 compared to 185,000 barrels per day in September 2015.

Tehran was Japan’s fourth crude oil supplier after Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar with a share of 9.7 percent in September 2016.

Iran increased oil output by 5,700 barrels per day to 3.703 million barrels per day in November, month-to-month, OPEC estimated in its latest monthly report released Dec. 14.

The country’s crude oil export currently stands at over 2.44 million barrels per day.
