Tehran, Iran, January 25

By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:

Iran plans to create 120,000 jobs in the ICT sector in the next fiscal year (to start March 21), according to Deputy Minister of Labor Issa Mansuri.

Most of the country’s ICT and IT companies are active in the areas of services and products distribution, Mansouri told IRIB TV.

The official said plans have been made to lure the companies to content production, programming, cartoon making, and games.

Iran’s labor force amounted to 23,031,464 people last summer, showing an increase of 628,016 since a year earlier.

The Iranian government considers the ICT market as a job-producing high-tech field to count on.

Government spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht in November told Trend that high-tech fields are high on agenda to improve as one of the greatest contributors to Iran’s non-oil economy.
