Iranian cement industry has apparently witnessed decline in its
performance as the industrial material’s output over the first nine
months of the current fiscal year (staring March 20) has dropped by 1.4
percent, year on year.

According to the latest statistics by Ministry of Industries, Mining and
Trade of Iran, the country produced 42.724 million tons of cement in a
period of nine months starting since March 20, 2016, indicating a 1.4
percent slump.

The industry’s output over the same period of time in the preceding year
stood at 43.391 million tons.
The country’s cement industry over the past several years has seen
fluctuations, soaring at times and spiraling downward at others.

Iran’s cement production in 2015 shrank by one percent to 58.6 million
tons, following a 33 percent fall in 2014, blamed on weak domestic
consumption.

Iran’s cement production over the past years has faced various
challenges including deep recession in the construction activities as
well as an inadequate provision of natural gas to industrial users.

In the meantime, due to global slump in oil prices and regional issues
Iran’s cement exports to neighboring countries has witnessed a
considerable fall.

The industry’s output is projected to reach 120 million tons per year by
2025.
