Iran’s and Oman’s oil ministers signed a framework agreement on gas export, SHANA reported Feb. 7.

Representatives of France’s Total, Royal Dutch Shell, Japan’s Mitsui, South Korea’s KOGAS as well as Germany’s Uniper participated in the ceremony of signing.

All of them announced their willingness to take part in the project, SHANA reported.

Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhi, minister of oil and gas of the Sultanate of Oman, visited Tehran to finalize the gas deal with Iran.

The deal includes exporting 10 billion cubic meters per year (bcm/y) of Iranian gas to Oman and Tehran’s using the idle capacity of Omani LNG plants to liquefy its gas.

The sides also haven’t finalized the construction of a 200-km undersea pipeline, estimated to cost $1.5 billion.

Iran and Oman signed the gas deal in 2013.
