Iran ranked 106th in the United Nations E-Government Survey-2016 among the 193 countries.

In the 2016 survey, 52 countries, including Iran, scored "middle," with E-Government Development Index values in the range of 0.25 to 0.50, according to the report.

The rankings are based on the report’s E-Government Development Index (EGDI), which ranks countries by measuring their use of information and communications technologies to deliver public services.

The Index captures three dimensions: scope and quality of online services, status of telecommunication infrastructure and existing human capacity.

Iran’s EGDI value was 0.4649 in 2016 with 0.3333 in online service component, 0.3514 in telecommunication infrastructure and 0.7101 in human capacity.

The top e-government performing countries are the United Kingdom, Australia, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Denmark and France.

Meanwhile Somalia, Niger, Central African Republic, Eritrea, Guinea, Chad, Djibouti, Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso were the worst e-government performing countries.
