Iran signs agreement on financing 77 airplanes

Iran’s Ministry of Transport has signed a final agreement for financing 77 Boeing and Airbus passenger aircraft, the ministry’s public relations office reported February 17.

Last year, Iran signed a $16.6 billion deal with Boeing for the purchase of 80 aircraft.

The country singed a similar agreement worth $17 billion for 100 Boeing airliners, as well as a deal worth $400 million for 20 ATR aircraft.

The ministry in its recent announcement said discussions are underway for the purchase of 17 Airbus aircraft as well as 6 Boeing jets and 8 ATR turboprop planes. The ministry further said it had received repair services for plane engines manufactured by the German company MTU.

It added Iran’s Aseman Airlines also reached an agreement with Rolls-Royce over the purchase of 100 Tay-650 engines.
