Iran exports $4.7B worth of agricultural products

The Islamic Republic exported 4.838 million tons of agricultural products during the first ten months of current fiscal year (March 20, 2016-Jan. 20), Iran’s deputy agriculture minister, Abdolmehdi Bakhshandeh, said.

The figure indicates a rise by 27.45 percent compared to the same period of preceding year, Bakhshandeh said, Mehr news agency reported.

He further said that the value of exported agricultural products accounted for $4.659 billion, 4.3 percent more year-on-year.

Iranian agricultural exports shared 4.74 percent of the country’s total non-oil exports in terms of volume and 13.24 percent in terms of value respectively, Bakhshandeh said.

Agronomic products topped the list of exports with 63.5 percent share in terms of volume, followed by horticultural products (20.8 percent) and livestock (13.84 percent), he added.

In terms of value, horticultural products ranked first with 47.1 percent share, followed by agronomic products (23.22 percent) and livestock (23 percent), the official said.
