Iran’s renewable energy output will reach 7,500 by the year 2030, Minister of Energy Hamid Chitchian said, adding, however, that “it is not satisfactory.”

“This year for the first time we had solar power plants with outputs in megawatts, including the Arak power plant with 1 megawatt, two in Hamadan with 7 megawatts each, and one in Isfahan with 10 megawatt output to come on stream,” Chitchian stated, Mehr news agency reported
February 27.

He further noted there is a tender in place for the construction of a solar power plant with 250 megawatts output.

Also, this year (to end March 20) the capacity of wind farms in Iran will reach 55 megawatts, Chitchian stated.

Right now 16 percent of Iran’s power output is derived from hydro-powered and renewable energy-powered powerhouses. Iran’s total power output is currently 76,000 megawatts.
