Iran gasoline consumption hits new record

Daily gasoline consumption in Iran hit a new record on March 18 as Iranians burnt 105.3 million liters of it.

According to Fatemeh Agahi, spokeswoman of Oil Products Distribution Company, this number came with an 18 percent hike compared to the same day last year when the daily consumption had stood at 89.6 million liters, IRIB news agency reported March 19.

According to the official, Iranians consumed 2.17 billion liters of gasoline in the 28 eight days into the current Iranian month of Esfand (Feb. 19 – March 18).

She added that during the 24 hours of March 18 gas oil consumption in the country stood at 74.a million liters.

Iran’s gasoline consumption increased by 5.1 percent to 74.2 million liters per day (ml/d) during the current fiscal year (since March 20, 2016), compared to the previous year.

The March 18 hike marked the beginning of the New Year holiday in Iran. The holiday will end April 2.
